The Vergenoegd is a classic blend of the Bordeaux cultivars (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet franc ) that cellar master, John Faure, has created to best reflect the unique terroir and winemaking philosophy of Vergenoegd. The vines are grown in a mixture of fertile alluvial soils along the banks of the Eerste River and more sandy soils with calcareous layers on a clay base. The vineyards can all be irrigated to enable us to fully ripen the grapes without undue stress. The vineyards also benefit from the cooling South Easterly winds blowing off the False Bay coast a mere three kilometers away.
